How to market an AI app: show the after, not the AI.

Every app in your category says "AI-powered", and nobody downloads a feature list. On TikTok, the AI posts that spread show a result in someone's life. Here is how to make yours, built on viral slideshows from our library.

How to market an AI app, in short.

To market an AI app, stop selling the model and sell the moment after it works: the fixed photo, the finished essay, the room you can now picture. Post that outcome as a TikTok slideshow made by a believable person, with the app's real screen as the proof. Mix posts people save (prompts, app lists) with posts people share (before and after, a surprising result), and post every day, because your competitors ship as fast as you do.

The search results for this question are mostly about using AI to do marketing. This page is about the opposite job: getting people to care about an app that has AI inside. The first step is a translation.

AI-powered photo enhancementThe photo where your eyes were closed, fixed before you post it.
Generative AI interior designSeeing the empty corner as a reading nook before you buy anything.

What AI posts get on TikTok, by type.

We pulled the AI and app posts from ClonBot's library of 1,332 viral slideshows and grouped them by what they do. Two groups get saved, two get seen.

Medians over the original posts in each group; saved = saves ÷ views (save counts are known for 3 of the 5 twist posts). The groups are small, so read them as a direction. Across all 1,299 posts with public saves, the median is 3.5%. The twist posts never say "AI": a photo fixer says "this app >>>" and lets the comments ask which one. More on that in TikTok saves.

The AI feature translator: from spec to life moment.

Type what your AI does, the way you'd write it on your App Store page. You get the everyday moment to show instead, and three slideshow hooks built on real viral formats.

Or try:

Runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere. Numbers are the original posts' public views and save rates from our library. The hooks are starting points, written without an app name: the app shows on the screen and the comments ask. For hooks in general, see the TikTok hook generator.

Your real competitor is a free chat box.

The first question about any AI app is "can't ChatGPT already do that?". You don't win that argument in a post. You make posts where the question doesn't come up.

Be the alternative in someone's list

"When you realize you can no longer use ChatGPT for college, but you find better alternatives" is 14 slides of other tools, one card each. Students save it as a backup list. Your app is card 3 to 5, with one line on the job it does better.

5.0M views · 9.2% saved · 14 slides

Be the prompt nobody has to write

Prompt posts get saved because they're work someone else did. Your app is that work, already done. Post the prompts, show them running in your app's screen, and the viewer sees the shortcut without a pitch.

"How to stop ChatGPT from always agreeing": 7.9M views · 5.4% saved

Own one moment, not the category

A general assistant does everything a little. Your app does one thing in one situation: the bad photo, the label in the shop, the night before the exam. Post that situation again and again, from different stories, until it's yours.

Same idea for software: slideshows for SaaS

The app list post, slide by slide.

The most common way an AI app shows up in viral posts is as one entry in somebody's list. Here is the shape of "PC apps I can't live without pt. 2": 6.1M views, 5.9% saved, 7 slides.

1Apps I can't live without pt. 2
2A well-known app + one line

5Your app: does the job without the pain

  • Middle, never the hook. In 14 of the 16 app lists in our library, the natural slot for a new app is a middle slide between apps people already know. None puts it on slide 1.
  • One concrete line. "Lets you [job] without [pain]", with a real screenshot. Not "AI-powered", not a feature list.
  • Honest neighbours. The other picks have to be good, and one paid pick said plainly ("paid") makes the whole list more believable.
  • End on a question. "If I missed anything, comment" turned that post into 3.7K comments, and comments are where people ask about your app.

One remake: AI inside, none in the text.

The feature · the phone logs breakfast from a photo
The moment · "without weighing a single thing"

The AI is on the phone. The story is her day.

Cal AI's core feature counts calories from a photo of your plate. Our remake for it is a day of eating, built on a 12.2M-view original. The AI appears once, as a screen: a phone held over breakfast with the meal already logged. The last slide never mentions tracking at all. It says what the AI gave her: no food scale.

That is the translator above, done by hand. Every slide is a life moment; the app is the reason the moment is easy.

Show a real result

People doubt AI demos. The phone in ClonBot's photos shows your app's real screens, from your App Store link or your screenshots, not a mockup.

Keep one imperfection

"Not loving my facial expression, but this app >>>" sells better than a flawless demo. An honest aside reads as a person, not an ad.

Post daily, not at launch

A rival can copy your feature in a week. A daily account is harder to copy. ClonBot's autopilot builds posts every night for the day after tomorrow and posts once you approve. See pricing.

AI app marketing questions.

Should I say "AI" in my app's marketing?

In the App Store listing, yes, because people search for it. In TikTok posts, rarely. The AI posts with the most views in our library show a result and let the comments ask what app it is. Say AI when the post is about how to use it, like prompt and code posts.

Can AI do my marketing for me?

It can do a lot of the work: write, make images, schedule. What it can't do alone is decide what's worth posting. ClonBot starts from 1,332 slideshows that already went viral, keeps their hook and rhythm, writes a new story for your app, and you approve each post or fix a slide by typing what should change.

How much does it cost to market an app?

Anywhere from nothing (your own posts) to agency retainers and paid ads. TikTok slideshows on an organic account cost your time or a tool: ClonBot plans start at $99 a month for 30 posts, one a day, with free setup. For the other channels see how to market an app and TikTok ads cost.

What are the most popular AI apps?

As of October 2026, general assistants lead the download charts, with ChatGPT and Google Gemini at the top and Claude climbing in 2026. That is exactly why a smaller AI app shouldn't compete as an assistant. Pick one moment those apps don't own.

How do I market an AI app with no budget?

Run one TikTok account as a person, not a brand. Post the before and after of your app's output, a prompt list people save, and get your app into "apps I use" lists as one honest pick. Keep what beats the account's usual views and drop the rest. More in how to market an app on TikTok.

What's the coolest thing to show about an AI app?

The moment the viewer thinks "wait, I need that": a bad photo fixed, a friend group's results, a corner of a room seen five ways. If it needs explaining, it isn't the post yet.

Your AI already works. Show the moment it does.

Setting up your app and creator is free. Plans from $99 a month for 30 posts.
