The TikTok slideshow report, in one paragraph.

In 1,332 viral TikTok slideshows, the median post got 3.6 million views, had 8 slides and was saved by 3.5% of the people who saw it. Most came from small accounts: the median account usually got 4,773 views per post, and 83% of the hits did at least 100 times that. Tips and guides were saved most, stories and relatable posts travelled furthest, and short hooks of one to three words reached the most people.

Each statistic below has a copy button that adds the source. The tables are in a free CSV.

How we collected the data.

Read this before you quote a number. It says what the sample is, and what it can't tell you.

Source
Public TikTok photo-mode posts found through TikTok's photo search, using hundreds of search terms across 21 niches, from study and fitness to money and faith. About 27,000 posts were screened in the last round alone.
What viral means
At least 250,000 views, slide text in English, not an ad, and a format an ordinary account could remake (no celebrity photos or TV screenshots). No more than two posts per account. Every post in the set was then read slide by slide and labelled by hand: hook, format type, niche, text on each slide.
Time range
Posts published 25 November 2022 to 19 October 2026, most of them in 2025. Views, likes, saves, shares and follower counts are as of collection, in October 2026.
Sample sizes
1,332 slideshows. Save and share counts exist for 1,299 of them, the account's usual views for 1,319 (the median of its recent posts), and captions, hashtags, sounds and followers for 1,303.
Limits
We only see posts that went viral, so these are patterns among hits, not proof of what causes one. The search favours English, US and UK accounts and topics people search for. Follower counts were taken after the hit, so they flatter the account. Medians are used throughout, because a few posts with tens of millions of views would distort an average.

TikTok statistics from other sources.

Not our data. Five platform numbers that are widely quoted, each checked against the source that published it, as of October 2026.

  • 1 billion+

people use TikTok every month, worldwide.

TikTok, announcement of 27 September 2021. TikTok has not published a newer global monthly figure in its newsroom since.
  • 37%

of US adults use TikTok, up from 21% in 2021. Among adults under 30 it's 63%.

Pew Research Center, survey of 5,022 US adults, 5 February to 18 June 2025, 8 facts about Americans and TikTok.
  • 20%

of US adults regularly get news on TikTok, unchanged from 2025 and up from 3% in 2020.

Pew Research Center, survey of 5,166 US adults, 24 to 30 August 2026, published 19 October 2026.
  • 21%

of US teens say they are on TikTok almost constantly, and 61% visit it every day.

Pew Research Center, survey of 1,458 US teens aged 13 to 17, 25 September to 9 October 2025, Teens, Social Media and AI Chatbots 2025.
  • 98%

of public videos from US adult users came from the most active 25% of them. About half of adult users (52%) had ever posted a video.

Pew Research Center, 2023 study of US adult TikTok accounts, summarised in 8 facts about Americans and TikTok.

That last number fits what we see in the slideshows: a small group of accounts posts almost everything, and the ones that post often get the most tries at a hit.

Questions about TikTok statistics.

Do TikTok slideshows get more views than videos?

We can't say from this data, because it only covers slideshows, and nobody outside TikTok can compare formats fairly. What it does show is that slideshows travel far from small accounts: in 1,332 viral slideshows the median got 3.6 million views, while the median account behind them usually got 4,773 per post.

How many images can you put in a TikTok slideshow?

Photo mode takes up to 35 photos. Viral slideshows use far fewer: the median in our library is 8, the longest has 24, and posts with 4 to 9 slides were saved most often (3.9% of viewers).

Is 50,000 views a lot on TikTok?

For most accounts, yes. The median account in our set usually got 4,773 views per post, so 50,000 would be about ten times its normal day, a real breakout. It's still well below a viral slideshow in our library: the smallest had 250,600 views and 89% passed a million.

How do you view your TikTok statistics?

In the TikTok app, open your profile, tap the menu and go to TikTok Studio, where Analytics shows views, followers and engagement. Tap a single post for its own numbers, including saves. Compare each post with the median of your recent posts rather than with other accounts.

Is TikTok still popular?

Yes. TikTok says more than a billion people use it every month, and Pew Research Center found that 37% of US adults used it in 2025, up from 21% in 2021, including 63% of adults under 30.
