What does an app marketing agency cost?

An app marketing agency runs some mix of paid user acquisition, app store optimization, ad creative, influencer and UGC deals, and organic social for you. As of October 2026, published guides put fees at about $3,000 to $25,000 a month in retainers, or 5% to 20% of ad spend, usually with a three to six month minimum. Ad spend is paid to the platforms on top.

For a small app, an agency starts making sense once a channel already works and you have $10,000 or more a month to put behind it.

Campaigns on Meta, TikTok, Google and Apple Ads, with attribution. See our user acquisition guide.

App store optimization

App marketing agency pricing: five models.

  • Monthly retainer

A fixed fee for an agreed scope: $3,000 to $25,000 (App Agent) or $5,000 to $25,000 (Admiral Media) for UA.

  • Percentage of ad spend

5% to 15% (App Agent) or 10% to 20% (Admiral Media) of the media they manage, often with a $1,500 to $2,500 minimum. It rewards spending more, not spending well.

  • Hybrid

A base of about $3,000 to $8,000 a month plus a bonus tied to install, CPA or ROAS targets. Good if the targets are measured in your own attribution tool.

  • Project or sprint

A fixed price for a launch or test. One agency lists a 30-day ASO or creative sprint at $9,000.

  • Per creative

Paying per video or production run. Independent UGC creators charge around $175 for a single video (median, Influee's rate guide); agency production runs are often $2,000 to $10,000.

Monthly fee by ad spend stage

Admiral Media's published ranges for mobile growth agencies, March 2026.

Under $10K ad spend$3,000–7,500
$10K–100K ad spend$7,500–20,000
Over $100K ad spend$15,000–50,000+

Their rule of thumb: the fee shouldn't be more than 15% to 20% of total marketing spend, media included.

How it works: paid-ads fees use Admiral Media's stage ranges above. Organic uses MarketerHire's mid-market tier ($7,500 to $18,000 for 8 to 16 videos, ads included), scaled in a straight line past 16 posts, our extrapolation. UGC is $175 a video before markup or usage rights. In-house is the BLS median ($78,760 a year) before benefits and tools, with a second hire, our rule of thumb, when one person would run paid plus more than one post a day. Agencies that bundle channels often quote below the sum of the parts.

When an agency makes sense, and when it doesn't.

        Hire an agency

You spend $10,000 or more a month on ads, you know your cost per install and what a user is worth, and nobody on the team has run paid campaigns at that size. You're buying experience and speed, not ideas.

        Hire in-house

Marketing is your main growth lever for years, you want the learning to stay in the company, and one person can own a clear channel.

        Use a tool first

You're pre-scale, the budget is under a few thousand a month, and you still need to find the hook people respond to. Organic posting tests that hook every day for little money; a strategy for it is in our app marketing strategy guide.

Questions to ask, and red flags to walk away from.

Ask every agency before you sign

        1. Which apps like mine have you grown, at my budget?
        2. Who works on my account, and how many others do they run?
        3. Who owns the ad accounts, creative files and data? The right answer is you, in your own Business Manager and attribution tool.
        4. What does the fee include, and what is billed extra?
        5. How many new creatives will you test a month?
        6. Which metric will you report, and from which source?Cost per paying user from your attribution data beats installs from their dashboard.

        Red flags

        • Guaranteed installs or rankingsNobody controls the auction or the charts.
        • Lock-ins past six months with no exit clauseAdmiral Media flags this one too.
        • Ad accounts in the agency's nameYou lose your history if you leave.
        • A low intro price that jumps after two or three months
        • Percentage fees with no cap as spend grows
        • Reporting on reach and installs onlyNo retention or revenue means no idea if it pays.

Where ClonBot fits: software, not an agency.

ClonBot is a tool for one job: TikTok photo slideshows for apps. It remakes formats from 1,332 slideshows that already went viral, with your app's real screens on the phone. You approve each post (on Pro and Agency you can fix any slide by typing what should change), and it posts at your times. It doesn't run ads, ASO or influencer deals.

Organic doesn't need a big account to start. Of 1,319 viral slideshows in our library, 65% came from accounts that usually get under 10,000 views a post. What it needs is a new hook every day, which is the part agencies price per video.

Agencies can use it too. The Agency plan is $499 a month for 250 posts across several apps and accounts, so an agency serving apps can run daily organic for its clients and spend its people on paid and strategy. Starter is $99 for 30 posts and Pro $249 for 90. Running a few accounts per app is covered in multiple TikTok accounts; plans are on the pricing page.

        App marketing agency questions, answered.

How much does a mobile app marketing agency cost?

As of October 2026, published guides put retainers at about $3,000 to $25,000 a month, or 5% to 20% of ad spend, with larger accounts paying $15,000 to $50,000 or more. Ad spend, creator fees and often creative are extra. Try the calculator with your numbers.

What are the best app marketing agencies?

It depends on the job, your budget and your category, which is why we don't rank them. Directories such as Clutch, The Manifest, DesignRush and TechBehemoths list app marketing companies with reviews; check which listings are sponsored, then shortlist three that have grown apps at your budget and ask them the questions above.

Is a TikTok marketing agency worth it for an app?

For paid TikTok at scale, it can be. For organic, mid-market packages around $7,500 to $18,000 a month cover 8 to 16 videos, while organic growth tends to come from posting daily and testing many hooks. Compare the numbers in our guide to TikTok ads cost.

What's the difference between an app marketing agency and a freelancer?

A freelancer usually does one job, like ads or ASO, for less, and depends on one person. An agency covers several jobs and has backup, at a higher fee and often a minimum term. A fractional TikTok marketer runs about $7,000 to $12,000 a month for 10 to 20 hours a week, per MarketerHire.

        Is ClonBot an agency?

No. ClonBot is software that makes and posts TikTok slideshows for apps; you approve the posts. Agencies that serve apps can use it on the Agency plan, $499 a month for 250 posts across several apps and accounts.
