How to market a fitness app, channel by channel.

To market a fitness app, run one creator account on TikTok that posts gym and running plans people save, with your app as the log, timer or map inside the plan. Back it with App Store keywords, a January push, a few creators, and ads only on posts that already worked. Slideshows come first: they're cheap to make daily, and gym TikTok rewards plans, which is what a fitness app sells.

What gym TikTok saves, and what it only watches.

A save means someone plans to come back, usually at the gym: the moment a fitness app wants. In 67 viral fitness slideshows, guides get saved about four times as often as jokes, with similar reach.

Where your fitness app fits, by app type.

For every format in the library, our analysis noted which apps it could carry and on which slide. Counted across all 1,332:

Half the formats that fit a workout tracker aren't fitness posts: they're self-improvement posts like "5 habits that will upgrade your life", so a gym app can borrow reach from outside gym TikTok. Running posts reach fewer people than gym posts, so a running app should lean on beginner plans, which get saved.

The app slot is often already there. It's the watch.

A beginner run-walk routine reached 4.1M views on an account that usually got about 7,700; 4.7% saved it. On Wednesday's slide a smartwatch shows the run. We remade it for Strava with the logged run on that slide.

Fitness app marketing questions.

How do I market a fitness app with no budget?

Run one TikTok account with a consistent creator and post a slideshow a day built on fitness formats that already went viral. Show your app as the log or timer on one slide, never the cover. Spend money only on posts that beat the account's usual views.

When is the best time to market a fitness app?

January has historically been the biggest month for health and fitness app downloads, so be ready before it: account warm since November, keywords set, challenge posts planned. Spring ("summer body") and September ("back to routine") are good second pushes.

What is trending in fitness on TikTok right now?

In the 2025 and 2026 fitness posts in our library: exercise rankings with scores, "I can only work out 3x a week / I got you" splits, at-home pilates, posture routines, zone 2 running and hybrid training.

What is GymTok?

GymTok is TikTok's gym community: splits, gym-girl routines, form tips, progress posts and gym humour. Its slideshows are mostly plans people screenshot.

Should a fitness app use influencers or its own account?

Both, in that order. Your own creator account tests many formats cheaply. Then pay fitness creators to make the kind of post that worked. A brand account of feature screenshots rarely gets reach.

How much does fitness app marketing cost?

Paid campaigns cost per install. Organic slideshows cost time, or a tool: ClonBot makes and posts them from $99 a month for 30 posts, with your real app screens in the photos. See pricing.

Your app belongs on the plan slide, not in an ad.

Setting up your app and creator is free. Plans from $99 a month for 30 posts.
