TikTok influencer marketing for apps: who to hire, what to pay, how to count installs.
A working guide for app makers: how creator deals on TikTok are set up, what creators charge as of October 2026, how to vet one by views instead of followers, briefs that work, and a calculator for what an install from a creator really costs.

How does TikTok influencer marketing work for an app?
TikTok influencer marketing means paying or gifting creators to show your app in their own videos or slideshows. For apps it pays off with small creators whose usual views are steady and whose audience matches your users. Most deals are a flat fee per post, as of October 2026 about $50 to $800 for nano and micro creators, and you judge them by cost per install, not by followers.
How creator deals work on TikTok: TikTok One and the four deal types.
The TikTok Creator Marketplace is now part of TikTok One, TikTok's platform for working with creators. You sign in with a TikTok for Business account.
It's useful for search and paperwork: filter creators by audience and past performance, brief, approve and get the ad code in one place. You don't have to use it. Plenty of app deals with small creators are a DM, a short agreement and a payment.
- Creator MarketplaceDiscovery filters, open casting calls, briefs, approvals, analytics and Spark Ads recommendations.
- Creator AI SearchDescribe the campaign or paste a brief and get a shortlist of up to 200 creators, with the reasons.
- Partner ExchangeTikTok-approved production partners who make branded content for you (formerly Creative Exchange).
- Content Suite (beta)Finds posts that already mention you and asks creators for 365 days of ad rights.
Gifting
Free premium access for an honest post. No guarantee they post, but cheap to try with dozens of small creators.
Fits: nano creators, subscription apps
Flat fee
A fixed price per post, sometimes for a pack of three. The most common deal. You carry the risk if the post flops.
Fits: most first deals
Fee plus performance
A smaller fixed fee plus a bonus per install, trial or subscriber, tracked by code or link. Creators who believe in their audience say yes.
Fits: apps with clean attribution
Ad rights
You pay extra to run their post as an ad. On TikTok that's a Spark Ads authorization code, read on our TikTok Spark Ads guide.
Fits: posts that already beat their usual
What TikTok creators charge: rates by tier, October 2026.
Benchmarks per post or video, not a price list. Niche, ad rights and exclusivity move the price more than the follower count.
Bars on a $0 to $50,000 scale. Tiers: Influencer Marketing Hub, updated August 31, 2026. UGC: median single-video rate in Influee's guide, for a video you post yourself or use in ads. Many nano creators take product, or a small fee plus product.
Creator deal calculator: what does one install cost?
Put in the fee and the creator's usual views. It turns that into installs and a cost per install, and compares it with what installs cost in ads.

Expected views = usual × your multiple. Installs = views × look-up rate × store conversion. The look-up and conversion defaults are assumptions; replace them with your own after the first deal. Benchmarks: Singular's Q2 2026 average cost per install across ad networks, and the top of SEM Nexus's US iOS health and fitness range ($2.00 to $5.50, September 2026). Direct installs only; a post can also lift store search.
How to find TikTok influencers for an app: vet the views, not the followers.
- Usual views, not followers
Skip the pinned posts and take the median of the last 10 to 15. That's what you are buying.
Pass: steady, no single spike carrying the average - Audience fit
Read the comments: are they your users, by age, country and problem? For a flashcard app, a study creator with 8,000 students beats a lifestyle creator with 80,000 fans.
Pass: comments sound like your reviews - Saves and shares
Saves mean "I'll use this later", which is what an app needs. Across 1,299 viral slideshows the median save rate was 3.47% and the share rate 0.53%. Check theirs with the TikTok engagement rate calculator.
Pass: saves near 2% or higher on good posts - How their sponsored posts do
If their last brand posts sit far below their usual, their followers skip ads.
Pass: brand posts within reach of usual - They make your format already
If your app fits a routine or a "things I use" slideshow, pick creators who already post that. Switching style costs views.
Pass: three recent posts in a format your app fits
Small accounts make the hits
Viral slideshows in our library by the poster's follower count, with the median views those hits got.
| Followers | Share of hits | Median views |
|---|---|---|
| Under 10K | 34% | 2.65M |
| 10K–100K | 47% | 4.1M |
| 100K–1M | 17% | 4.9M |
| 1M+ | 2% | 4.85M |
1,299 viral slideshows with a follower count. 81% came from accounts under 100,000 followers. The library holds only posts that went viral, so it shows where hits came from, not how often posts become one. What counts as a hit: how many views is viral on TikTok.
Briefs that work: give creators the format, not a script.
A script makes the post sound like your ad, and viewers skip ads. Hand over what has to be true and leave the words to the creator.
Briefs that flop
- A word-for-word script with your tagline in the first second.
- Five features to mention. Viewers remember one moment, at most.
- The app on the cover. The first frame decides if anyone stays, and an ad cover loses them.
Briefs that get posted and watched
- The format: a link to two posts that worked, for example a "things that fixed my mornings" list or a sleepover ideas slideshow.
- Two or three hook options they can rewrite in their own voice. Our TikTok hooks guide has the patterns.
- Where the app shows: one slide or moment, with the real screen, mid-story.
- One must-say fact and the tracking: their code or link, and the disclosure setting.
- Deliverables: post date, rough length, whether you get the Spark code and for how long.
Measuring installs from creators, without guessing.
- A link per creator
- Give each creator their own link for their bio or Linktree, through your attribution tool or a short link. Organic captions aren't clickable, so tell them where the link lives: our guide to adding a link to a TikTok bio covers it.
- Custom product pages
- On iOS, give each creator their own App Store custom product page. Each page has its own URL, and installs per page show in App Store Connect. Apps can publish up to 70 pages as of October 2026.
- Offer codes
- A creator code like MAYA30 for a free month or a discount gets typed in by people who searched the store instead of tapping. On iOS these are subscription offer codes; Apple retired the old in-app purchase promo codes in March 2026.
- A "where did you hear about us" step
- One onboarding question with creator names as options catches viewers who searched the store days later.
- The baseline lift
- Compare installs for three days after the post with the week before. Links undercount TikTok; the lift shows the rest.
Own a creator account, hire creators for bursts.
A creator deal buys one try at one hook. At $200 to $800 a post, a month of micro deals is five to ten tries, and most won't beat the creator's usual. Organic TikTok rewards the opposite: many tries, every day, until one format lands.
So the app makers who get the most from creators split the job. An owned creator persona posts every day as the always-on layer: one consistent face on your own account, testing formats. How to build one is in how to make an AI influencer. Paid creators come in for bursts, remaking what already worked.
- Post a new format a day on your own account. Read each post against the account's usual views.
- When one clearly beats usual, brief three to five micro creators on that exact format.
- Run the best creator post and your own winner as Spark Ads.
ClonBot runs the first step. It remakes formats from 1,332 viral slideshows with your app's real screens and one consistent creator, you approve each post, and Results shows how each did against your usual. Plans start at $99 a month for 30 posts; see pricing, and the wider playbook in TikTok slideshows for apps.
Dronk, our own party game app: the sleepover format remade with our creator and her friends. A winner like this is what you'd hand to paid creators next.
TikTok influencer marketing questions, answered.
What is the TikTok Creator Marketplace?
TikTok's official platform for brand and creator deals. As of October 2026 it lives inside TikTok One, alongside Creator AI Search, Partner Exchange and the Content Suite beta. Brands use it to find creators, send briefs, approve posts and get Spark Ads codes.
How do I get to TikTok Creator Marketplace?
Go to TikTok One and sign in with a TikTok for Business account; the old Creator Marketplace login points there. Creators join from their side once they meet TikTok's eligibility rules, which vary by country.
Is the TikTok Creator Marketplace worth it for an app?
For finding creators by audience data and keeping briefs, approvals and ad codes in one place, yes. For small apps working with nano creators, direct outreach is often faster. Judge either by cost per install, not by the platform.
How much do TikTok influencers charge?
As of October 2026, benchmarks are about $50 to $200 a post for nano creators, $200 to $800 for micro, $800 to $5,000 for macro and $5,000 or more past a million followers. Ad rights, exclusivity and a pack of posts change the price.
How much does TikTok Creator Marketplace pay creators?
TikTok doesn't set the pay. The brand and the creator agree a fee, a gift or a performance deal, and TikTok One can handle the brief, approval and payment.
Micro or macro influencers for an app?
Usually micro. They cost a fraction of macro rates, their audiences are narrower, and in our library 81% of viral slideshows came from accounts under 100,000 followers. Spread one macro budget over several micro creators and keep the ones whose posts beat their usual.
