Hobby app marketing: make the post people save for Sunday.
Plant care, cleaning schedules, interior design, crafts, reading trackers. Nobody saves an app ad, but people save "how to deep clean your home" and open it again on the weekend. We read the 129 viral home and hobby slideshows in our library to see where an app fits inside them.
Free, no sign-up. Type your plant, home, craft or reading app's App Store name and get three slideshow ideas for it in about 20 seconds.
Lists get kept, stories get watched.
Hobby app marketing on TikTok works best with reference posts: checklists, guides, book lists and "things to keep in your room" lists that people save and come back to while they water, clean or pick their next book. Put your app on one slide as the tool behind the routine, post from one consistent person, and lean into the months when the hobby starts again: January for organizing, spring for plants and crafts.

"Carving teeth into soap" reached 23.8M views and was saved by 0.69%. "A guide to deep cleaning", a seven-slide checklist, reached 1.5M and was saved by 10.78%. For an app the second is worth more: each reopening on cleaning day is another look at the phone. Use stories and photo dumps for reach; why saves matter is on TikTok saves.
One format, six hobby apps: the same slides, rewritten.
The top row is our remake of a bedroom plant list for a plant care app. Pick another kind of app and the bottom row rewrites it slide by slide, keeping the hook, the rhythm and the one slide where the phone appears.
Built on "7 Plants To Keep In Your Bedroom": 8.0M views, saved by 6.37%, posted by an account whose usual post got about 5,300 views. Our remake keeps the cover, one plant per slide in spaced capitals, and adds "the secret" with the app's real screen.

Why the app goes there
The list is free advice; the secret slide is the routine behind it. A watering reminder is the one thing a plant list can't do by itself, so the phone answers a question the list raised.
Library proof
"one plant for every room / and what each one actually does": 2.0M views, 7.11% saved, 9 slides.
Community and timing
#planttok appears in just 1 of 1,303 viral captions; tag the plant and the room instead. Post from February to June, when people repot and buy plants.
Rewrites are examples of the structure, not finished posts. The app's name never goes in the overlay text: the screen shows it and the comments ask. Remake made by ClonBot to show what it does. We're not affiliated with Planta.
Which hobby app fits which post, and its community tag.
Every format in the library lists the kinds of apps that fit its story. Counts are out of the 129 home and hobby formats (one post fits several), with the community hashtags from the captions of all 1,303 viral posts we collected.
| App type | Formats that fit | Median saved | Community tag | Where the app sits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Interior design and decor | 38 | 3.31% | #homedecor (12), #interiordesign (9) | Room idea lists. The layout screen, as the step before buying. |
| Recipes, pantry and groceries | 27 | 4.11% | #foodtok (15) | Food storage guides. A bonus slide: the list in front of the open fridge. |
| Cleaning and chores | 25 | 3.27% | #cleantok (16), #cleaningtiktok (4) | Checklists and routines. Last card: rooms as repeating tasks. |
| Photography and editing | 23 | 3.64% | #photography (18), #filmphotography (6) | Settings cheat sheets (one saved by 8.90%). The settings, on screen. |
| Reading and books | 19 | 5.01% | #booktok (14), #bookrecs (5) | Book lists. Second to last: the list in the tracker. |
| Music and instruments | 18 | 4.48% | #guitar (6), #guitartok (4) | Beginner chord guides. The tuner or chord screen as a step. |
| Crafts and making | 11 | 3.52% | #crochet (4) | Idea lists. The pattern with its row counter, near the end. |
| Plant care and gardening | 7 | 4.98% | #planttok (1), #gardening (3) | Room-by-room plant lists. The reminder on the "secret" slide. |
Plant posts are rare (7 of 129) but well saved, so borrowing a proven list structure beats waiting for plant formats. Community tags are small: #cleantok was on 16 of the 1,303 captions (11 of them home posts) and #booktok on 14, against 41 for #studytok. A "-tok" tag says who the post is for; it doesn't bring the views. More on TikTok hashtags and TikTok niches.
BookTok content ideas for a reading app.
Book lists are the best saved posts in the hobby niche. The library has 12 book recommendation lists with a median save rate of 7.68%, more than twice the library's 3.47%, at 3.35M median views. Nine are BookTok posts; the rest came from mindset, faith and fitness accounts, so book lists travel beyond BookTok.
The hook is a reason to read, not a genre: a mood, an identity, or a feeling after the last page. Covers carry the slides. The one tip post, "kindle hacks", was saved by 2.91%: people keep lists of books, not lists of features.
For a reading tracker, use a second-to-last slide of the phone on the same blanket, showing these titles in the app. Or make the 50 page rule the hook: "books I almost quit at page 50".

The hobby year: post when the hobby starts again.
The month each of the 129 viral home and hobby slideshows was posted. 72 landed between March and July; only 27 between September and December.
New Year organizingJanuary
"Want a spotless home in 2025? Here's your new cleaning routine" went viral on January 6. A kitchen-organizing guide and a bathroom how-to also took off in January. Cleaning schedules and declutter checklists.
Spring cleaning, plants and craftsFebruary to June
A beginner grow guide (February), spring craft ideas (March), the deep-clean checklist and "one plant for every room" (June). The busiest stretch.
Moving seasonJune, October, November
Two first-apartment checklists, in October and November, were saved by 7.77% and 7.98%. Decor, cleaning and pantry apps fit an "essentials" list.
Cosy season and giftsNovember and December
"Christmas gift for her based on hobbies" got 6.0M views. Fewer viral posts here, so less competition for book lists and gift guides.
129 posts from 2022 to 2026 is a small sample, so read the strip as a pattern, not a forecast.
One person, a new list every day.
The accounts behind these posts are small: a median of 16.9K followers when we collected them, and 91 of 128 had under 50K. The deep-clean checklist reached 14.5 times its account's usual views. The format carries a hobby post, not the audience, so a new app account can compete.
What it needs is consistency: one person with a home, a plant shelf or a reading chair viewers recognise, posting a new list most days. ClonBot builds that. It starts from 1,332 slideshows that already went viral, keeps each one's hook, rhythm and text style, and writes a new list with your app's real screens on the phone. Autopilot makes posts every night; you approve them or fix a slide by typing what should change, and they post to TikTok at your times. Starter is $99 a month for 30 posts (pricing). The wider playbook: TikTok slideshows for apps and habit tracker app marketing.
Hobby app marketing questions.
How do I market a hobby app?
Post the reference content your hobby already saves (checklists, beginner guides, lists) from one consistent person on TikTok, with your app on one slide doing a job the list can't do alone: a reminder, a tracker, a row counter. Home and hobby lists and guides had a 4.78% median save rate in our library.
How do I market a plant care app?
Borrow the room-by-room plant list. "7 Plants To Keep In Your Bedroom" got 8.0M views and was saved by 6.37%; our remake adds a "secret" slide with the watering reminder on screen. Post most from February to June.
What are good BookTok content ideas?
Book lists built on a reason to read: a mood, an identity or a feeling after the ending. "Books I will never stop recommending" (9.08% saved) and "healing fiction for when you need a hug" (7.71%) are examples. Covers do the work; keep the text short.
What is the 50 page rule?
A reading rule popularised by librarian Nancy Pearl: give a book 50 pages, and if you aren't enjoying it by then, stop. Readers over 50 subtract their age from 100 to get their page count. It makes a good hook for a reading tracker: "books I almost quit at page 50".
What content goes the most viral on TikTok?
In home and hobbies, the biggest view counts went to stories and relatable memes (around 7.7M median views), but those were saved by under 1%. Lists and guides got fewer views and six to eleven times the save rate. For an app, aim for saves. More ideas in TikTok content ideas.
Do I need to show my face?
No. Many of the best saved hobby posts are hands, objects and rooms. A recurring person still helps viewers follow the account, and ClonBot keeps one consistent creator across posts.
